Special Classes
At Civitas Classical Academy, we believe that education is about more than just mastering core subjects — it is about cultivating the whole person: mind, body, and soul. To that end, we are pleased to offer a rich program of special classes designed to complement classroom learning and foster growth in our students as they encounter and love what is good, true, and beautiful in God’s world.
Music – 1 hour per week
Led by an experienced professional musician and worship leader from CityGate Church, our music class introduces students to the joy of making music, the beauty of melody and harmony, and the rich heritage of song throughout history. Students will engage in singing, rhythm, and music theory, fostering a love for beauty through the art of music and training their hearts and voices to glorify God.
Physical Education (PE) – 1 hour per week
- Our physical education class is taught by a licensed physical therapist and professional personal fitness coach, who brings both expertise and a passion for promoting physical health and fitness. Through engaging activities and structured exercise, students develop strength, coordination, and sportsmanship while learning to care for their bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit. PE helps students build discipline, teamwork, and physical well-being — all essential components of a flourishing life.
Art – 1 hour every other week
Art class at Civitas is led by a retired elementary teacher with over 30 years of teaching experience, who is passionate about helping children engage their imaginations and develop their creative skills. Students explore drawing, painting, and other artistic mediums while studying the great works of art from history. This class encourages students to appreciate and create beauty, reflecting the creativity of our Maker.
Together, these special classes enrich the academic life of our students by nurturing their imaginations, strengthening their bodies, and cultivating their affections for the good, true, and beautiful. They remind us that education is not merely the transfer of knowledge but the shaping of hearts and minds to love and worship God in all things. At Civitas Classical Academy, we are committed to the formation of the whole child — mind, body, and soul — equipping them to live virtuous, joyful, and worshipful lives.
